Narakand Park sits at the southern edge of the Greater Caucasus foothills, in a transition zone between forested uplands and the semi-arid steppes around Shamakhi.
Key geographical characteristics:
- Elevation: 850–1,150 m above sea level
- Terrain: rolling hills, shallow ravines, forest belts, and agriculturalfields
- Vegetation zones: temperate deciduous forest dominated by Oriental hornbeam and Caucasian oak
- Climate: mild summers, cool winters, with significant temperature contrast between day and night
The park’s microclimate benefits from nearby mountains, which bring cooler winds and higher humidity compared to the surrounding lowlands. Spring transforms the hillsides into lush green meadows, while autumn paints the forest in deep gold and red tones — making Narakand especially photogenic.
